There's a couple bands out there that I've been loving on and even though we're all hot and heavy, I'm having trouble taking our relationship to the next level. I've been thinking about why this is and low and behold the skies have parted and the sun does shine down upon an answer: I really don't know anything about them. These are random groups I find while dilly dallying around the internet during the work day...ummm... I mean during the lunch hour. They're small-roomy bands doing good things like noise and surf rock and each posses a sense of DIY, which is all the rage now, then and upcoming. So, what I want to know is where can I get records from? I need to spend some personal time with these characters away from the office. The couch would be nice, with some sun coming in through the window and a piece of pizza in my hand. I'm just saying...
Ducktails - Wavy and relaxed surfy noise rock. Very chill. It looks like I can only get tapes though and that means I have to make yet ANOTHER trip to good will this week to get a tap deck.
Real Estate - These are Ducktail's friends and their music shares some similar attributes. A little bit more traditional but just as fun. I could listen to this on a porch, overlooking a city, with some sun beaming down on my face and the smells of good food drifting past. Actually, it just so happens that I have something like that. Excited!
Slow Horse - If you want to scream then this might be for you. It's way harder than the guys look (click Slow in their title) and quite catchy for this type of music, which usually doesn't do it for me.
White Ring - Great dark basement noise. Underwater sounds that will pull on your ear, head, and eventually your whole body.
King Khan & the Shrines - This is proably my favorite of these bands and their music is likely the most accessible. This is prog surf rock and roll and I love it. Party in a package.
